Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary and Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura today laid the foundation for two Water Supply Schemes (WSSs) at Nowpora and Dangerpora-Kanir in Chrar-e-Sharief Constituency of district Budgam.These schemes, with source of Doodganga Nallah to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 7.43 crore, are expected to cater to the drinking water needs of around 13427 souls of about 10 adjoining villages of Nowpora and Kanir areas.Minister of State for Hajj & Auqaf, PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control and Power Sayeed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi, District Development Commissioner, Budgam Mir Altaf Ahmad, Chief Engineers of PHE Kashmir & Irrigation Kashmir and other senior officers of district administration were present on the occasion.Addressing an impressive public gathering on the occasion, the Minister for PHE said the present Government is making all out efforts to provide adequate drinking water and infrastructure to every village of the State for which number of programmes have been launched.He said that the former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s vision for development of the Jammu and Kashmir would be carried forward with the same vigor and devotion by the present dispensation.He said Central Government is providing liberal funding to J&K and it is the responsibility of the officers to make judicious and efficient use of available resources. 

He urged the officers to perform their duties with zeal and dedication, so that people are benefited to maximum.Sham Choudhary also stressed upon the officers to put focus on public needs and redress their genuine problems on priority.Minister for Agriculture Mr Hanjura in his address said that to provide basic amenities like drinking water, education, health, power and road connectivity to people at every corner of the State is Government’s commitment and number of schemes have been implemented in this regard and several such schemes are underway across the State.Mr. Hanjura said the Government led by Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has launched number of schemes aimed at welfare and prosperity of people. He said people should come forward and take active role to strengthen democratic setup, so that they are able to take maximum benefit of such schemes.Minister of State for PHE Sayeed Farooq Andrabi also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the policies and programmes of the present Government. He also hailed the role of former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in developing J&K. Describing late Mufti Sayeed as a visionary leader, Andrabi said that his contribution for welfare and uplift of the weaker sections will be remembered forever.
