The Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission today directed the Welfare Department, Punjab, to submit a comprehensive report within a fortnight (15 days) regarding the complaints received pertaining to fake SC certificates in order to ensure strict action against the erring people. Disclosing this here today after a full meeting of the commission, the Chairman of the Commission Mr. Rajesh Bagha said that in today’s meeting various issues concerned with the SC community pertaining to different departments were debated and instructions were issued to dispose these off in a time bound manner. He further said that the police department has been directed to submit action taken report on monthly basis regarding atrocities on dalits.Mr. Bagha also divulged that the welfare department has been further instructed to promptly release the scholarship funds of SC students, studying in various colleges, under the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme. He also disclosed that the many colleges are denying roll numbers to the SC students owing to the non-release of scholarship funds. He directed the officials of the welfare department to issue a detailed letter to all the colleges asking them to issue roll numbers to such students.  

Divulging more, Mr. Bagha said that the police and Welfare departments has been directed to display boards as per the amendment in the Atrocity Act at public places, police stations, government offices depicting information about the commission as well as the SC Act in order to ensure easy reach of SC community to the commission in case of need.On the occasion Mr. Inderpreet Singh Sahota ADGP (Crime), Mr. Parveen Kumar Thind Director Local Government, Mr. Diprawa Lakra Director Welfare Department, Mr. Raj Singh Senior Vice Chairman of Punjab SC Commission, Mr. Rajinder Singh Guddu Vice Chairman, Mr. Raj Bahadur Singh Deputy Director, Ms. Bharti Kennedy, Mr. Gian Chand Diwali, Mr. Prabh Dyal Rampur, Mr. Raj Kumar Hans, Mr. Tarsem Singh Sialka and Mr. Darshan Singh (All Non-Official Members) were also present.
