The Deputy Commissioner, Sangrur along with SSP of the district today personally deposed before the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission in the matter pertaining to the boycott of dalits in village Dhandiwal by the zimidars and apprised the commission about the whole situation.Divulging this, the Chairman of the commission Rajesh Bagha said that the Deputy Commissioner said that the issue at dhandiwal was between farmers and the labourers and was not related to casteism. Both the parties have reached a compromise. The SSP said that situation at dhandiwal is not tense and life has returned to normalcy.The Chairman asked the Deputy Commissioner to ensure that the labourers and the daily wagers are paid according to the Government Rates. He said that a committee comprising Mr. Raj Singh Senior Vice Chairman and Mr. Darshan Singh and Mr. Tarsem Singh Sialka as members has been constituted by the commission at its own level. The committee has visited the spot and sought time for submitting its report. Only after receiving the report would the commission decide on the matter.
