Punjab Congress pays glowing tributes to Pandit Nehru

Glowing tributes were paid to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of independent India on his 123rd birth anniversary here today. The main function was held at the Congress Bhawan here which was presided over by the senior vice president of the Punjab Congress, Mr Laal Singh and attended by several party workers.After paying floral tributes to a portrait of Pandit Nehru, Mr Laal Singh recalled his great sacrifices during the freedom struggle and his leadership after India became free. He pointed out, it was the vision and leadership of Pandit Nehru that launched India on the path of peac, progress, democracy and freedom.The former minister stated that Nehru’s teachings were still relevant today. He pointed out, Nehru fought the communal and sectarian forces and ensured that India remained a secular country with people belonging to different regions, religions and languages staying together.
