The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, Sukhbir Singh Badal today said that those anti-Punjab elements represented by Congress and AAP got a tight slap and egg on their faces with the negligible dope positive results during police recruitments conducted recently.Speaking on the occasion of handing over appointment letters here to the newly joined constables, the Deputy Chief Minister said that today is a red letter day in the history of Punjab as 5581 police constables (both male and female) have been inducted into the Punjab Police after a rigorous, merit based and totally transparent recruitment process. He also said that transparency in recruitments is the forte of the SAD-BJP government which has created such an atmosphere that now even the poorest of the poor can aspire to get jobs purely on merit.Divulging that people from all walks of life have been very appreciative of the transparency factor in the recruitments, Badal said that in the past 6 months 1 lakh people have been given jobs and in respect of police department the SAD-BJP government has effected more than 25000 recruitments during its present tenure which accounts for 40 percent of the force. He also detailed that around 550 Sub-Inspectors are being recruited out of which more than 200 would be women thereby making visible on ground the emphasis of the state government to recruit more women.

Terming Punjab Police as the best in the country, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the bravery and daring of the Punjab Police reflected from the way it handled the Dinanagar terror attack and neutralized all the terrorists on its own. Making a strong pitch for the development oriented measures, the Deputy Chief Minister mentioned sewa kendars, saanjh kendars and accelerated promotions in the police to name a few.Asking the newly recruited constables to discharge their duties with complete dedication and honesty, S. Badal described them as the symbol of the strength of Punjabi youth who are the best in the entire nation.On the occasion, DGP, Punjab, Suresh Arora thanked the Health Department for conducting dope tests on the candidates participating in the police recruitments.Among others present on the occasion included Special Principal Secretary to the Deputy Chief Minister-Manvesh Singh Sidhu, OSD to the Deputy Chief Minister- Charanjit Singh Brar, ADGP (Administration) Dinkar Gupta, I.G. (Headquarter) R.N. Dhoke, Senior SAD leader Harsukhinder Singh Babbi Badal, Deputy Commissioner Daljit Singh Mangat, SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and other senior officers of the police.
