Aam Aadmi Party has again appealed to the farmers and laborers of Punjab to avoid taking extreme steps like suicide.The black chapter of Punjab agriculture will end with the formation of AAP government in Punjab.In a joint press statement, Sangrur MP and Campaign committee Chairman, Bhagwant Mann and Chairman Manifesto Committee, Kanwar Sandhu expressed grief over the suicide of Farm laborer Jagsir Singh of village Jeeda in Bathinda District. The leaders said that farmers of the state are committing suicide while government is in deep slumber. The farmers of Punjab who once played their vital role in bringing green revolution are taking extreme steps because of anti-farmers policies of government.Mann termed Akali-BJP and Congress equally responsible for the present situation of agriculture in the state and country. He said that both Congress and Akali-BJP alliance made hollow promises of giving facilities to farmers but failed to implement Dr. Swaminathan committee recommendations. Chief Minister Badal has played a negative role in improving the lives of farmers.Kanwar Sandhu promised the farmers of the state that ‘Farmer Manifesto’ released by AAP will help them to come out of the bad situation they are going through. He said that the manifesto was drafted after the thorough study and meeting thousands of famers in different areas of Punjab. He said that AAP keeps the target of making Punjab farmers debt free till December 2018.
