Punjab Irrigation Minister and Sahnewal MLA Mr Sharanjit Singh Dhillon today inaugurated the 20 MVA (Mega Volt Ampere) power grid at Sahnewal. Constructed with a total project cost of around Rs 8 crore, this electricity grid would benefit around two dozen nearby villages as well as the industrial area of Sahnewal town.While speaking on the occasion, Mr Sharanjit Singh Dhillon said that crores of rupees are being spent on upgrading electricity supply lines and other infrastructure in the state. He said that when the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janta Party formed government in the state, one of their main agendas was to make the state power surplus. He said that now due to the untiring efforts of Deputy CM Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal, our state is now power surplus and the residents as well as the farmers are getting uninterrupted power supply.

The Irrigation Minister said that the new 20 MVA power grid has been constructed with a total project cost of around Rs 8 crore. He said that this grid has been constructed on land of village Bilga and would benefit more than two dozen nearby villages as well as the industrial area. He said that the overall development of Sahnewal constituency is his main aim and that is why several important projects have been completed here ever since he became the MLA. He said that due to overall development of Sahnewal, it is now one of the most developed constituencies of the state.Prominent among those present on the occasion included Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board chairman Mr Santa Singh Umedpuri, Baba Jagroop Singh, Sahnewal Nagar Council President Mr Kulwant Singh Kanti, PSPCL Chief Engineer Mr NK Sharma, Youth Akali Dal Sahnewal President Mr Narinder Singh Sandhu, besides several others.
