Former President of the Punjab BJP and member of the party's national executive Kamal Sharma has met Union Minister of State for Railways Shri Manoj Kumar Sinha and Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Dr. Mahesh Sharma. During his meeting with the ministers, Shri Sharma apprised them with various problems of Punjab, particularly the Malwa region. On the issues taken up by Shri Sharma, the minister's have instructed the concerned officer's to take necessary steps.Giving details of the meeting in a statement issued here today, Shri Sharma said that he has brought it to the note of Shri Sinha that if the route of the train from Ferozepur to Jammu be extended upto Katra, it would provide relief and comfortable journey to pilgrims in large number, who go to pay obeisance at the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. "The halt of the train at the Jammu station is good enough and hence without any change in the timings, the route of this train can be extended upto Katra", Shri Sharma told the minister.

Shri Sharma further informed Shri Sinha that from time to time, a holiday express is being run from Ferozepur to Haridwar. "While Haridwar is a holy city of great religious prominence, the people of this part of the region have good business relations with the western part of the Uttar Pradesh. Because of the heavy rush of the passengers, people are left with no other option than to travel in buses. If the Ferozepur-Haridwar train is made to run on permanent basis, it would not only facilitate the passengers but would also help railway generate more revenue", he said.Shri Sharma also told Shri Sinha that Railway Department has started the train from Ferozepur to Chandigarh but because of the unfavourable train timings, the commuters are not able to get the benefit, while demanding revision in the train timings. "Shri Sinha heard me patiently and thereafter instructed the officials concerned to look into the matter and submit a report in this regard", he informed.

Giving details of his meeting with Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Dr. Mahesh Sharma, the former BJP chief said that a project of starting a Light and Sound Show at the Samadhi of Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev in Hussainiwala, Ferozepur, is under consideration. While requesting for the speedy initiation of the project, Shri Sharma said, "Being a historical place of great prominence, the light and sound show would not only showcase the valour and courageous acts shown by the freedom fighters but would also encourage the youth to follow the footsteps of the martyrs of the freedom struggle." Shri Sharma said that the minister has assured him to take up the matter on priority in the meeting of the officials to be held in this regard.
