Democratic Nationalist Party (DPN) president and former Agriculture minister, Ghulam Hassan Mir on Monday said that the government should deal with Jammu and Kashmir Liberation front (JKLF) chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik politically rather than arresting in a case registered against him in 1987.Mir told KNS that the tall claims of PDP has been exposed as they were earlier claiming that the ‘opposition will not be oppressed’ but after assuming the charge they launched crackdown against separatists, which is not a proper way to dealing the situation.“I appeal the government to release Malik at earliest,” he said. Pertinently, CPI (M) State secretary and MLA Kulgam M Y Tarigami and Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) president and MLA Khansahib Hakim Mohammad Yasin have also demanded release of Malik who was arrested in a case filed against him in 1987.
