Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leaders and activists today organized various protests throughout the valley against construction of separate settlement colonies in the name of Kashmiri Pandits, separate colonies for ex-army men, east India company type new industrial policy intended to change the demography of Jammu Kashmir , oppression unleashed against Jammu Muslims, house arresting APHC (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani and APHC(M) chairman Mirwaiz Muhammad Umer Farooq and others, arresting JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik and shifting him to central jail Srinagar, nocturnal raids and other oppressive measures by police throughout the valley. According to a statement issued to KNS, as JKLF activist’s organized protests sit-in’s and hoisted black flags as a mark of protest throughout the valley, police was seen removing these black flags for the whole day. During this most peaceful protest program police arrested JKLF district president Islamabad Muhammad Ishaaq Ganaie, raided JKLF offices at Abi Guzar to arrest JKLF zonal president Noor Muhammad Kalwal and zonal organizer Bashir Kashmiri, raided residence of JKLF district president Pulwama Javed Ahmad Butt and many others at Soura and other parts of the city. It is worth to mention that besides JKLF chairman who is in central jail Srinagar, JKLF vice chairman Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi is also under house arrest from last many days.Following the joint program announced by JKLF, APHC (G) and APHC (M), JKLF leaders and activists led by vice chairman advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt today staged a peaceful protest sit-in near Budshah Chowk Lal Chowk.

Besides JKLF leaders and activists a large number of people including women from all walks of life also joined this protest sit-in. with play cards and black flags in their hands, the participants of the protest sit-in raised slogans against conspiratorial plots of India and its Kashmiri stooges especially proposed construction of separate colonies for Pandits, ex-army men, industrial policy, arrests, raids and other oppressive measures. This sit-in was addressed by various JKLF leaders including Zahoor Ahmad Butt, Mir Siraj ud din and Sheikh Abdul Rashid. In his addressed JKLF vice chairman advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt said that today’s joint protest program is against various conspiratorial designs of india and its stooges and also against oppression unleashed by police. While condemning the continues detention and house arrest of various leaders including chairman APHC(G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani, chairman APHC(M) chairman Mirwaiz Muhammad Umer Farooq and arresting JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik and shifting him to central jail Srinagar, Butt said that such is the highhandedness of rulers and their police that JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik during his illegal confinement at police station Kothibagh had written a letter to chief justice of Srinagar high court seeking orders against his illegal confinement.

Police in its reply to the court said that they had arrested Yasin Malik under Preventive detention laws and because he refused to fill personal bond (Muchlaka) he could not be released. To expose this blatant lie of police, JKLF approached concerned Tehsildar but for last four days he has been missing from his office and is not ready to listen to the case. Butt said that today’s exemplary peaceful program was held throughout the valley and JKLF activists held programs and hoisted black flags at many places in Baramullah, Bandipora, Kupwara, Ganderbal, Budgam, Pulwama, Shupian and Srinagar districts, the irony of the matter is that the so-called rulers who day in and day out used to raise slogans like battle of ideas, no bullet but talks could not tolerate this peaceful protest too and as JKLF activists and other people kept hoisting black flags police personal kept removing these black flags for the whole day thus exposing the frustration of rulers and their authorities. Same was done by police at Lal chowk where police even abused many shopkeepers and vehicle owners while removing black flags from their personal properties. Butt said that so-called rulers who claim to be democrats should have some shame because their real undemocratic face stands fully exposed before the people now. It is worth to mention that the central protest Sit-in was held for more than one hour after which it ended peacefully. (KNS)
