Terming parliamentary elections as force’s drill & drama, spokesman Hurriyat Conference (G), said that state authorities are creating scare and harassment among people.Large contingent of forces personnel have been deployed in poll bound areas and almost all leaders and activists from resistance camp has been arrested. In a statement issued to KNS, Hurriyat (G) Spokesman condemning the arrest spree and placing resistance leaders under house arrest, called it as an extreme vandalism and coercion. This is martial law like situation, said spokesman.Hurriyat Conference (G) said that authorities placed Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Nayem Ahmad Khan, Peer Saif ullah, Mohammad Altaf Shah, Raja Meraj-u-Din, Mohammad Ashraf Laya & Ayaz Akbar under house arrest. While as Mohammad Yasin Malik is detained in Srinagar Central Jail & Hakim Ab Rashid, Tashooq Ahmad Bandey, Mohammad Amin Ahangar, Mohammad Yusuf Makroo, Syed Imtiyaz Hyder, Bashir Ahmad Budgami, Omer Adil Dar, Javed Ahmad Gazi and hundreds of other activists are either lodged in jail or in police stations.

Hurriyat (G) said that authorities are creating horrendous situations in poll bound areas & police is continuously chasing youth and in night raids arresting people. It is sheer vandalism, said spokesman. Criticizing state authorities for deployment of forces, Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar said that amidst harassment and arrests, these elections are mere drama & fraud.Hurriyat Conference pursues its mission through peaceful means and don’t believe in coercion or bullying, said spokesman. Arresting leadership illustrates the frustration of administration and these elections are irrelevant & unscrupulous. Polls scheduled to be staged on April 9 in Srinagar are fraud & in absence of any moral and ethical ground, have lost its credibility and relevance, said spokesman. There are authentic & confirmed reports that contestant parties have decided to utilize services of mobile voters, said Ayaz Akbar. Confirmed reports are pouring in that services of mobile voters are being utilized by contestant parties and class fourth employees including Aangan Wadi workers are forced to participate in election drama, said spokesman.

Reports divulged by these employees say that administration has asked them to cooperate state machinery or face action or termination from services.Reports from different of poll bound areas say that those arrested, their families are also asked to participate in election otherwise detained youth will be booked under PSA. Reliable sources said that contesting parties have agreed to share votes through bogus means and agreed not to raise objections over mobile voters. This is not a fair but a mere drama and reiterating appeal for boycott Hurriyat said, that any participation in elections tantamount to treason with martyr’s blood and even an act of disgrace for sacrifices presented by our sisters. Hurriyat said that any deception or participation in elections tantamount to adding salt to the wounds and dishonor for those who were blinded and maimed during last year’s people’s uprising.Hurriyat in its statement said that we are confident that people will stay away from the staged drama and it will convey a strong message that people won’t give up and will strive till their objectives are accorded and accepted.
