Naeem Akhtar reviews arrangements for ongoing BOSE examinations in the state

Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar, Tuesday reviewed arrangements for ongoing Board of School Education (BOSE) examinations in the state via video conference.Divisional Commissioners, Inspector Generals of Police, Deputy Commissioners, District Police Heads, BOSE Chairman and Directors of School Education from Kashmir and Jammu divisions were present in the meeting.Stressing officials to provide cordial atmosphere for fair and transparent exams, Mr Akhtar exhorted SSPs and Deputy Commissioners to conduct surprise visits at the examination centres across the state. "In case of complaints, police and officials of education department should ensure that strict action is taken against the offenders. Such cases must be taken to their logical conclusion without any delay," Mr Akhtar said.

The Education Minister said a pool of supervisors and invigilators should be kept on standby in all the districts in case of situations arising out of improper demeanour or complaints against existing staff.The Minister has already directed school authorities not to detain students who failed 'Golden Test' which was conducted for both Class 10 and 12 students before final exams.Mr Akhtar said respective cluster heads will prepare roasters for deployment of staff, drawn from feeding schools, at hundreds of exam centres across the State.Directing officials to maintain heightened vigil on sensitive examination centres, the Minister said Section 144 will be imposed around all examination centres and strict action will be taken against students who indulge in unfair means.For Class 10 exams which began on Monday, 60,462 students are writing their papers at 580 exam centres while as 52110 students are expected to appear in Class 12 exams at 478 centres across Jammu and Kashmir.
