Mocking the West Bengal government's decision to publicise details of cabinet meetings held between 1938 and 1947, the opposition Left Front on Tuesday said the Mamata Banerjee regime was declassifying files as it had no other work to do."The Trinamool government has no work to do. Have any of the problems faced by the common people been solved? This government has done nothing. So they are now indulging in releasing the files to show that they have done some kind of work," Bose told mediapersons here. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday put in public domain, minutes of 401 cabinet meetings held between 1938 and 1947. Earlier on Sep 18, the Banerjee government had declassified 64 documents relating to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Referring to the killing of three people in Birbhum district in an alleged Trinamool factional fight on Monday, Bose said the ruling party was intentionally creating an environment of fear in the state."The Birbhum incident is not an isolated one, rather Trinamool has been using violence tactics to create an environment of fear. This is to ensure the Oct 3 polls are not free and fair," alleged Bose.

Besides the polls to the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad in Darjeeling district, the newly formed municipal corporations of Asansol in Burdwan district and Bidhannagar will go to the hustings on October 3. Talking about the front's Kolkata district unit's October 1 march to Lal Bazar police headquarters against alleged police bias, the veteran Marxist said the administration has been rendered a mere puppet in the hands of the Trinamool. "The police are overzealous when it comes to taking action against innocent people and our party activists. But when people from the ruling party dance around with guns, the police turn mute spectators," said Bose. He was referring to a procession in Kandi of Murshidabad district allegedly taken out by Trinamool activists and supporters, where some men were seen flaunting pistols. Expressing alarm over the Kandi incident, Left legislators on September 22 had waved toy guns at the state assembly attracting angry remarks from the chief minister.
