The Congress Sunday announced it support for any such bill that may be tabled in Jammu & Kashmir state assembly for scrapping the law on beef ban and while ruling out any alliance with the opposition National Conference in the upcoming Leh Autonomous Hill Development Council elections claimed to sweep the polls in LAHDC polls .Talking to Kashmir News Service leader of the Congress legislature party in Jammu & Kashmir assembly and former tourism minister Nawan Rigzin Jora while accused BJP of polarizing Jammu, Kashmir and Ladhak divisions of the state announced his party’s full support to any such bill which may be brought to vote before the state assembly for scrapping law on beef ban and slaughtering of bovine animals.Interestingly the Opposition National Conference has already declared to table a bill for scrapping  section 298 A&B of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) in the coming session of Jammu & Kashmir assembly beginning October 3.It is in place to mention here that a division bench of the Jammu & Kashmir High Court has banned the slaughtering of bovine animals and sale of beef under section 298 A&B of the Ranbir Penal Code on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) moved by a Deputy Advocate General of the Jammu Wing of the Jammu & Kashmir Court in the year 2014.

After the Congress party’s announcement of the support to the proposed bill of National on scrapping section 298 A&B in the state assembly the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has been caught in catch 22 situations as the party is sharing power with BJP supporting the ban on beef in Jammu & Kashmir state.Nowang Rigzin Jora also said ‘the people should be at liberty to eat meat of their choice and no restrictions can be imposed on the people on taking the kind of meat they like. People should take any meet they like and no legal or constitutional bars should be imposed on the sale of any kind of meat in the state”.Ruling out any alliance with either the opposition National Conference or ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Rigzin Jora claimed that his party- the Congress will sweep upcoming Ladhak Autonomous Hill Development Council Elections. Stating that the main contests will be between Congress and BJP in the upcoming LAHDC elections Jora said both National Conference and PDP are out of reckoning in the upcoming LAHDC elections.
