The government has approved the "concept" of One Rank One Pension (OROP), Maj. Gen. Satbir Singh (retd), who is spearheading the campaign for the scheme's implementation, said here on Saturday."The government has accepted our concept of OROP. The issue of VRS has also been solved after our delegation, which met the defence minister this (Saturday) afternoon, told him that there is no concept of VRS in military. We have something called pre-mature retirement and the government has also accepted it," Maj. Gen. Satbir Singh told the media after a delegation of ex-servicemen met Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.According to him, there is still a deadlock on the issue of pension revision period, which is five years.

The government has proposed that the first revision of OROP will take place after three years. And the subsequent revisions will take place after every five years. But the ex-servicemen say they are not ready to accept this condition."We told the defence minister that such revision system will make seniors drawing lesser amount of pension than their juniors. The minister assured us that he will appoint a judge to look into the matter," he said, adding that their meeting was successful."While the government is saying it should be five years, we have said that this will kill the definition of One Rank One Pension. The minister has said a committee will be formed on this," he said.
