Punjab Local Bodies Minister Brahm Mohindra has directed the officials of district Ludhiana to change their mindset while redressing the grievances of people so that they can avail full benefit of the welfare schemes of Punjab government. He issued these directions while chairing the first District Grievances Redressal Committee meeting at Bachat Bhawan, here today. This meeting was also attended by Punjab Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu, MP Mr Ravneet Singh Bittu, MLAs Mr Surinder Dawar and Mr Sanjay Talwar, Mayor Mr Balkar Singh Sandhu, besides the committee members and senior officials of District Administration. While addressing the meeting, Mr Brahm Mohindra said that every administration is the main part of the government, through which the government implements its welfare schemes and policies. But it is observed that rather than solving the issues/problems/grievances of people on priority basis, sometimes the officials indulge in dilly dallying tactics, which angers people and in result brings bad repute to the government. He appealed to the officials to have a positive approach while redressing the grievances of common man. He also urged them to ensure that the grievances, if any, are redressed at district level only so that people do not have to approach Chandigarh for this purpose.

He appealed to the committee members to bring written complaints in the next meeting so that they are taken to a conclusive end without any delay. He directed the Deputy Commissioner to make all members aware about all welfare schemes and programmes of the Punjab government in next meeting and also ensure that department heads are present in the meeting themselves. He also announced that the meeting of District Grievances Redressal Committee would be held every month, and responsibility of concerned officials would be fixed in regard to the peoples grievances.Mr Brahm Mohindra also appealed to residents that they should only raise genuine complaints as strict action would be taken against those indulging in false complaints. While addressing the meeting, Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Mr Ravneet Singh Bittu, MLAs and members raised some problems being faced by the residents and urged Mr Brahm Mohindra and officials for early redressal of the complaints. They said that the officials should themselves move in field if they want to have first hand information regarding problems being faced by the residents.Officials of various departments were directed to take welfare schemes to maximum number of people so that maximum number of people are benefitted. Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal welcomed the Chairman and members.
