Morinda/ Sri Chamkaur Sahib , 17 Apr 2019

Thousands of party workers and supporters today thronged the roadshow of the Congress candidate from Sri Anandpur Sahab parliamentary constituency, Manish Tewari. The  roadshow was organized by the Punjab Technical Education Minister and Chamkaur Sahab MLA Charanjit Singh Channi. After passing through various areas, the roadshow,  which started from Morinda culminated at Chamkaur Sahab. Tewari accompanied by the party leaders and workers later paid obeisance at Gurdwara Katalgarh Sahab.Interacting  with reporters during the roadshow, Tewari said, while he was feeling overwhelmed with the outpouring of massive support, it was actually an endorsement of the Chief Minister  Capt Amarinder Singh’s policies and programmes he had launched since March 2017 after taking over the reins of the state. The Congress candidate said that while people of  Punjab were thoroughly disillusioned and alienated with the Modi government at the centre as it had proved to be utter disappointment, they had great expectations from Capt  Amarinder as he is known for delivering what he commits and promises.Besides, Tewari added, some of the revolutionary measures the Chief Minister had taken like waving off  farmers’ loans up to Rs 2 lakhs, which besides being the first in the country, was the highest also. He said, other states followed in the footsteps of Punjab.
Second, he said, the government had virtually put an end to the drug pedaling in the state and unlike during the Akali-BJP regime, when drugs were freely available, the supply  chain has been completely broken. Moreover, he claimed, there are no more criminal gangs, which had flourished under Akali-BJP regime in the state and had started being  glamourized and glorified. He said, all these measures had build up the faith and confidence of people in the government and this was showing the results. “The massive  outpouring of people you see today, is an endorsement and acknowledgement of what Capt Amarinder has done during the last two years”, he told reporters while referring to the  massive crowd that thronged his roadshow today.Tewari said, he was specially feeling grateful to his friend and colleague, Charanjit Singh Channi, who had organized today’s  roadshow in his constituency. “Coming events cast their shadow and today’s roadshow has already established beyond any doubt as which way the wind is blowing”, a confident  Tewari remarked, while expressing confidence about his victory from here.Asserting that the formation of Congress led UPA government at the centre was a forgone conclusion,  he said, the real good days will come only after May 23. “There will be a people friendly government at the cente with a humane face and approach and not the one which neither  cared nor had any concern for the common man in the country”, he said.Besides Channi, others accompanying Tewari during his roadshow included Vijay Sharma Tinku, Harpal  Singh Bhanwra, Balwinder Singh Bajwa, Bant Singh Kalari, Rakesh Kumar, Mohinder Singh Dhillon, Malkiat Singh and others.
