Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. Rajiv Saizal requested Union Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi to enhance financial assistance for various women and child centric schemes to Himachal Pradesh.Dr. Saizal called upon Union Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi at New Delhi yesterday.He apprised Smt. Maneka Gandhi about various schemes being implemented in Himachal Pradesh for betterment and welfare of women in the state. He said that Himachal was among those states where there was a provision of 50 percent reservation for women in Panchayti Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies. Women empowerment and welfare was the priority of the present state government, he added.Social Justice and Empowerment Minister said that the present state government would ensure all basic facilities for women in the state. All out efforts would also be made to improve health and economic conditions of women in the state.Dr. Saizal said that Himachal Pradesh requires more financial resources for effective implementation of various welfare schemes due to its difficult terrain and topography. He requested Union Women and Child Development Minister to provide more money for Women and Child Development in Himachal Pradesh.Union Women and Child Development Minister assured Dr. Saizal about whole hearted support from Union Government. She said that liberal financial assistance would be provided to Himachal for effective and successful implementation of various policies and programmes.
