The separatist leaders on Sunday organized a joint daylong seminar on the issue of “Sainik and Pandit Colonies”. Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, along with Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief, Muhammad Yasin Malik had proposed a joint seminar over what they termed as anti-Kashmir policies and had said that they will come out with a collective and unified program to stop these anti-Kashmiri plots. While addressing a gathering in seminar, Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani said that the occupation of Indian forces in Kashmir is the actual issue and the other issues which are coming to fore are its off shoots. “India is raising controversial issues here to divert the attention of Kashmiris from the main issue due to which they are strengthening their occupation here and are trying to grant it permanence,” he said.Geelani said that there is no reason of establishing of Sainik colonies for ex-servicemen as after completing the service everybody prefer to stay to at their homes.Terming the Kashmiri Pandits as part and parcel of the society, Geelani said, “We always welcome our Pandit brothers to return Valley and reside at their native places but we won’t allow the state administration to establish separates townships for them.”He said that it is a conspiracy to divide Kashmiris on the name of religion as well as plan to defame Muslim of Valley. “India is trying to put communal colour in the freedom struggle of Kashmiris,” he said. While reiterating his election boycott call, Geelani said that all the mainstream political parts including PDP, NC, Peoples Conference, AIP and others are the enemies of Kashmir cause. “These political parties are the puppets of Indian government,” he said, adding that to cast ballots in their favour is ‘Haraam in Islam’.

While referring to unity among pro-freedom leaders, Geelani said that they don’t have any differences over primary goals. “We all are against the occupation of Indian forces and want to get freedom from it,” he said.Mirwaiz While addressing a gathering in a daylong seminar, Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Molvi Umar Farooq said that establishing of Sainik, Pandit colonies in Kashmir is the an Israel policy. “India is trying to make Kashmiris homeless in their own nation like the way Palestinians were made,” Mirwaiz said. While appealing people to follow the joint programmes of pro-freedom leaders, Mirwaiz said, “To defeat the plans and polices of the government voices will be raised but in the month of Ramadhan only pro-people programmes will be announced,” he said.Mirwaiz termed Sainik colonies, Pandit colonies and new industrial policy as anti Kashmir, and said “We should get united and fight against such issues to defeat the anti-Kashmir policies of government.”“We should make committees comprising of civil societies, Hurriyat leaders and others who will meet Kashmir Pandits and will assure them that they are part and parcel of our society. But we will not allow government to establish separate townships for them,” he said, adding that the separate townships will raise a hate wall among the Muslim and Pandits brothers.

Meanwhile, continuous detention of Democratic Freedom party (DFP) chairman, Shabir Ahmad Shah and re-arrest of JKLF chief, Muhammad Yasin Malik was condemned by the speakers in seminar. On the occasion, people raised anti-government and anti-India slogans and said that the joint programmes of pro=freedom leaders will be followed at any cost.Pertinently, hours before the start of seminar on “Sainik and Pandit colonies” scheduled jointly by both factions of Hurriyat Conference and JKLF, authorities re-arrested JKLF chief, Yasin Malik yesterday at around 8:30 PM from his Maisuma home.Earlier in the day, he was released by a TADA court while non-bailable warrants were issued against Syed Ali Geelani and Nayeem Ahmad Khan. Malik was detained at central jail for last week. Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian president, Aga Syed Hassan was placed under house detention till afternoon.Besides, Geelani, Mirwaiz, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Muhammad Abdullah Tari, Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom, Dr Sheikh Showkat, Dr Javaid Iqbal, Abdul Majeed Zargar, Z G Muhammad, Hassan Zainagiri and Shakeel Qalander also spoke in the seminar.
