Badal Approves Development Project Of Rs. 1.10 Crore For Thikriwala Village

In a befitting tribute to the supreme sacrifice of the legendry leader of the Parja Mandal Movement Shaheed Sewa Singh Thikriwala, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today approved a development plan of Rs. 1.10 crore for the facelift of Thikriwala - the native village of the great martyr in Sangrur district. A decision to this effect was taken by Mr. Badal during a meeting with a deputation of Thikriwala village Panchayat led by its Sarpanch Mr. Gurdial Singh accompanied by the Member Rajya Sabha Mr. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa here at Chief Minister's residence this morning. 

The deputation put forth its various demands for the development of the village related to the departments of Education, Sports, Rural Development, Public Health and Water Supply.  Conceding the demands after detailed deliberation, the Chief Minister directed various Heads of the departments present in the meeting to work out all the modalities and initiate development works at the earliest. The various development works which were approved by Mr. Badal included brick lining of village streets (Rs. 33 lacs), approximately two kilometer pipe connectivity of village pond with the drain for proper discharge of ponds treated water (Rs. 52 lac), Sports Stadium (Rs. 10 lac), Dharamshalas (Rs. 10 lac) and Village common sitting places (Rs. 5 lac).  Mr. Badal further directed the public health and water supply department to ensure piped water supply for every house besides the construction of Latrines in the remaining houses along with a proper drainage of waste water in the Thikriwala village. 

On the pursuance of Senior Akali SAD leader and Member Rajiya Sabha Mr. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, the Chief Minister also approved the proposals of upgradation of sports stadium, setting up of Government College besides developing a Nature Park over an area of 3 acres at Barnala city.On the occasion the Sarpanch of Thikriwala village Mr. Gurdial Singh on behalf of the entire village expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for showing magnanimity for the development of their village. Prominent amongst those who were present on the occasion included Special Principal Secretaries to the Chief Minister Mr. Gaggandip Singh Brar and Mr. K.J.S. Cheema, Secretary Mandi Board Mr. Deepinder Singh besides the senior officers of state government. The deputation included the entire village Panchayat and prominent personalities of the area.
