Lovely Professional University (LPU) paid its respects to the late former Chief Minister of Punjab, Sardar Parkash Singh Badal, who passed away on April 25, 2023. A sorrowful gathering of students and staff members held a two-minute silence to express gratitude towards the departed soul.
LPU Chancellor Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal praised Sardar Badal's contributions to the nation, state, and its people as a remarkable statesman. He acknowledged that Sardar Badal had always supported the cause of education and its propagation, and had provided positive solutions to the problems posed before him by the LPU fraternity.
Dr Mittal further added that Sardar Badal was the tallest leader of the country, and his visits to the LPU campus are cherished memories. Dr Mittal also highlighted Sardar Badal's achievements, including his record five terms as Punjab Chief Minister and his service as the Union Agriculture Minister for the Indian Government.
He noted that Sardar Badal was both the youngest and oldest CM of the Punjab State. Dr Mittal concluded by offering prayers to the Almighty to grant strength and solace to the bereaved family members, people of the state, and the nation to bear this irreparable loss.
