Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq on Sunday lashed out at those misinterpreting National Food Security Act saying that the Act envisages ration supply to optimum number of people in the state.“The government was, earlier, able to give ration to only 99 lakh people of the state but now under this new pro-people initiative 1.19 crore population will be facilitated with this basic amenity”, the Minister affirmed.Haq informed that Rs. 74.13 lakh people will receive ration at the rate of rupees 2 or 3 while forty lakh people will receive ration under APL category. He said government will give ration according to 2011 Census and more people will be given ration under the Act. He said, earlier, a household was getting 35kg ration but now the ration will be given per head under NFSA that will be more beneficial for the people. He said that some vested interests are spreading misinformation among the people for their ulterior motives and have nothing to do with welfare of common masses.
