The Committee on Public Accounts (PAC) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Monday directed the officers of Public Works Department (PWD) to speed up pace of work on ongoing road projects including PMGSY and complete them in a stipulated timeframe. The Committee also asked them for utilization of funds judiciously.This instruction was given by the Committee, chaired by MLA Mian Altaf Ahmad in a meeting convened to examine the CAG’s Audit Paras pertaining to Roads and Buildings (R&B) besides functioning of the Public Works Department here today.The Committee Members including Mr M Y Tarigami, Mr. Mohammad Khalil Bandh, Mr Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Mr Satpaul Sharma, Mr Ajay Nanda, Mr. Rajeev Sharma, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi and Mr Zaffar Iqbal Manhas attended the meeting and gave their suggestions for further improvement in completing the under execution projects.

Commissioner Secretary, PWD Mr Rohit Kansal gave detailed presentation about the status of the projects including PMGSY and other schemes.The panel sought detailed information about the status of different ongoing and completed works and projects taken up by the R&B department during the past two years and submit the same to the Assembly Secretariat for scrutiny of the Members.Among others, Accountant General (Audit), Development Commissioner Works, Chief Engineers of R&B and PMGSY of Kashmir and Jammu, Managing Director JKPCC, Director/Chief Engineer SPD, Chief Engineer Mughal Road and other officers of PWD and Assembly Secretariat were present in the meeting.
