Minister for Social Welfare, Forests, Ecology and Environments Bali Bhagat Sunday dedicated 4 nos of Electric Transformers having capacity 100 KVA at village Batera, Bhatyian, Dharyan and Lower Barnai in Raipur Domana Constituency under Constituency Development Fund (CDF)to the people to the area.The Minister also distributed cheques worth Rs. 10 lakh to 1270 beneficiaries under Old Age Pension Scheme, Widow Pension and Physical Handicapped Scheme.Underscoring the importance of various welfare programmes aimed to elevate living condition of poor and needy, Bali Bhagat highlighted the role of the Social Welfare department in the implementation and monitoring of the welfare schemes. He asked the departmental functionaries to make every effort to ensure that the benefits reach to the targeted population. He called for attitudinal change in the mind set of people to protect the right of women folk in the society, so that they can contribute in the socio-economic development of State without any fear and stress.He also informed that as part of the Beti-Bachao, Beti Padhao Scheme, the state government, on its own, has started a scheme- initially in six districts’ under which Rs 1000 per month would be deposited in the account of the girl child born after April 1, for fourteen years. “Six districts, Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Anantnag, Pulwama and Budgam- all having low sex ratio - will be covered in the first phase,” he added. He appealed the people to come forward and avail the benefit of these schemes and registered their girl child with the SW Department under the scheme.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the government was keen to reach out to people in every area, address their grievances and accommodate the demands in a phased manner to ensure holistic and integrated development of every region of the State. He said that peace is imperative for development and every citizen particularly youth of the State is equal share holder in peace and development process. He said government is determined to carry forward development to every area adding that peaceful atmosphere is necessary to accomplish this task.Later, after dedicating 4 Nos of Electric Transformers, Bali Bhagat addressed a series of public meetings and said that with the installation of these new transformers a population of 5000 souls of Raipur Domana Constituency and adjoining areas would get sufficient power facilities. He asked the PDD authorities to lay new wiring  and also install new poles in uncovered areas and urged the people to use power judiciously.Among other, Director Social Welfare Jammu M. S. Choudhary, senior officers of SW Department besides Sarpanches and Panches were also present on the occasion.
