Teachers under the Sarva Shikhshya Abhiyan (SSA) Monday alleged that they have not been given their salaries from the past four months. The Government had claimed that it had released Rs 436 Crore for reimbursing pending salaries of teachers under the Sarva Shikhshya Abhiyan (SSA).“Though the government had claimed that they had made funds available for the reimbursement of our pending salaries but the fact is that we did not get the pending salaries of last four months,” one of the female SSA teachers told KNS.Another teacher said that they are running from pillar to post for their salaries, but of no avail. “I haven't received salary of three months and despite repeated requests to the concerned officials, my salary is not released.One of SSA 3rd teacher said, “My salary was pending since January after release of funds to the SSA I was expecting the release of my pending salary but I was shocked when my account was deposited with only one month’s salary,”.

Salary under SSA scheme is disbursed from Central (65%) and the state (35%) share.Meanwhile CPI (M) state secretary Mohammad Yousuf Targami expressed strong resentment against the alleged callousness and step motherly treatment of the Government towards the SSA teachers who are without salary for the last several months. “These teachers have projected this demand from bottom to top several times but the Government did nothing to resolve the issue of SSA salary. Chief Minister Mufti Mohmmad Syed should intervene into the matter and government should release the salaries of the teachers,” he said/It is to mention here that the Jammu & Kashmir Government had claimed that it has released Rs 436 crore for reimbursing pending salaries of teachers under the Sarva Shikhshya Abhiyan (SSA).“We have received Rs 396 crore from the Centre under Sarva Shikhshya Abhiyan and with the state share of Rs 40 crore, a total amount of Rs 436 crore has been made available for reimbursement of the pending salaries of teachers,” Education Minister Naeem Akhtar had said.
