District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Bashir Ahmad Khan urged upon public in general and PRI, Civil society, Religious Leaders, Scholars, Academicians, Media Tycoons and students in particular to work for ensuring polythene free and clean Anantnag with preserved water bodies and tourist destinations. District Development Commissioner was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Rural Development Department programme “My village My world” at HSS Hassan Noor Anantnag today. The programme which was organized by Rural Development Department Anantnag in collaboration with other allied departments, was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development ,District Panchayat Officer, Programme officer ICDS, Block Development Officer, PRI members, Lawyers, Teachers, Media Persons , civil society members, religious leaders besides students in a good number.
Speaking on the occasion District Development Commissioner said that pure social life, clean environment with pure water bodies and sacrosanct tourist destination had been real treasure of Rural J&K, but growing urbanization, self centered approach and use of polythene has affected agriculture, tourism and all other sectors. If timely steps are not taken the situation will certainly go out of control. He further added RDD has initiated various programmes for rural areas which include centrally sponsored Swachh Bharat Mission and Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan and now J&K government has formulated “My village My world” focusing on rural and local based planning , banning of polythene besides preservation of water bodies and environment.District Development Commissioner urged upon all concerned to work with cooperation. Others who also spoke on the occasion gave explicit details and aims of the programme “My village, My world”.
