The Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal held a high level meeting with top civil and police officials at his residence to review the situation in the wake of the terror attack at Dina Nagar this morning.The meeting which was attended by the Advisor to Chief Minister on National Affairs Harcharan Bains, Chief Secretary Sarvesh Kaushal, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Jagpal Singh Sandhu, Principal Secretary and Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister S.K.Sandhu and Gaggandip Singh Brar respectively besides the ADGP (Intelligence)  Hardeep Singh Dhillon, lasted about an hour. The CM will also be meeting his cabinet colleagues from both SAD and BJP at 7.00 PM this evening to take stock of the situation with them. Later, Harcharan Bains told the media that a detailed statement on the situation would be made only after the operation against the terror operatives was over at Dina Nagar.  

Mr. Badal has been closely monitoring the situation since early hours of the morning when the news of the terror attack first came in. He cancelled his scheduled Sangat Darshan in Baba Bakala Assembly constituency of Amritsar district in the morning and has been overseeing the course of the government response on a minute to minute basis.  He had dispatched the state Director General of Police, Sumesh Saini to Dina Nagar to spearhead police operations against the assailants. The DGP is camping there since morning.Bains further said that the Chief Minister has also been in touch with senior members of the Government of India including the Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh and the Union Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley. Badal, who visited the Guru Nanak Dev Hospital in Amritsar, to meet those injured in the indiscriminate firing at Dina Nagar in the morning, flew into the capital this afternoon and was immediately closeted with the top brass of the civil and police administration at his residence, added Mr. Bains.
