Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today assured a delegation of Sikhs from Assam that the state government would extend fulsome support and cooperation to them for construction of Cultural complex in the memory of legendary Sikh warrior General Chetan Singh at Guwahati. The delegation of Sikhs from Assam called on the Chief Minister here today and apprised the Chief Minister that they were constructing a Cultural complex in the memory of legendary Sikh warrior General Chetan Singh, who was send by Maharaja Ranjit Singh to Assam during Burmese invasion to help the erstwhile ruler of Assam, at Guwahati. The delegation informed Mr. Badal that this great legendary Sikh warrior played a pivotal role in safeguarding Assam from foreign invasion, which was a matter of pride for every individual. 

They said that in order to perpetuate the rich legacy of this great warrior, they were constructing a Cultural complex at Guwahati. Likewise, the delegation also sought the help of Chief Minister for renovation of Guru Nanak High School, Guwahati. Extending fulsome support and cooperation to the delegation for this noble cause, the Chief Minister said that the state government would make every effort for preserving the great heritage of this great warrior. He also assured the delegation of full support for renovation of Guru Nanak High School. The Chief Minister further said that strenuous efforts have been made by the state government to preserve the rich cultural legacy of the state by building world class monuments at a cost of nearly Rs 1000 crore to immortalize the memory of the great and unparalleled role played by our great heroes and martyrs in shaping the course of human history. 

Badal said these include the state-of-the-art Virasat-e-Khalsa memorial at Sri Anandpur Sahib, memorials of Vadda and Chhota Ghallughara , Baba Banda Singh Bahadur War memorial at Chappar Chiri, Bhagwan Valmiki ( Bhagwan Valmik Tirath Sthal Amritsar ) and  Guru Ravidass (at Khuralgarh in Hoshiarpur). The Chief Minister said that apart from these, memorials of Swami Vivekananda at Kapurthala, Baba Jiwan Singh (Bhai Jaita Ji) at Sri Anandpur Sahib, Baba Moti Ram Mehra at Fatehgarh Sahib and Bhai Mati Dass, Bhai Sati Dass and Bhai Dayala Ji at Sri Anandpur Sahib were also at various stages of planning and execution. The Chief Minister was accompanied by his Special Principal Secretary Mr. Ajoy Kumar Sharma. The visiting delegation including Captain PP Singh, Mr. Tehal Singh, Mr. Major Singh, Mr. Gurmeet Singh, Mr. Manjit Singh, Mr. Bahadur Singh, Mr. Ajit Singh, Mr. Sukhwinder Singh, Mr. Tejinder Singh, Mr. LP Singh and Mr. Sukhjinder Singh also felicitated the Chief Minister.
