Minister for Health and Medical Education, Ch. Lal Singh today inaugurated a 2-day health Mela at village Thial in Udhampur district. MLA Ramnagar, Mr. R.S, Pathania was also present on the occasion.The Mela was organized by Shri Durga Dass Memorial Society (SDDMS) in collaboration with Department of Health, Jammu, to provide advance healthcare services to the deserving patients of the area. Speaking on the occasion, Ch. Lal Singh appreciated the efforts of the SDDMS for organizing such type of events in rural and far-off areas and hoped that this society will continue to extend its services to the people of rural areas with the same spirit and missionary zeal.   The objective of organizing the health Melas is to provide better healthcare facilities to the people of rural areas at their doorsteps. He said that Government has deputed adequate doctors with latest diagnostic equipments to examine the patients and providing them necessary treatment. He called for a close coordination between health department and field functionaries to extend adequate medicare to the people especially living in remote and far-flung areas.

The Minister said that health sector is the top most priority of the State as well as Central Governments as a result of which health services in the State have improved manifolds.  He said that main thrust of the Government is to provide health facilities in the rural and remote areas of the State adding that 98% of the patient care/treatment is provided by the Government to the patients across the State with the network of health institutions.The Minister instructed CMO Udhampur to conduct a survey of health institutions located in Ramnagar Constituency for upgradation and submit the same to the Administrative Department for necessary action. He assured the people to upgrade the medicare facilities in the area as per the requirements.

 The Minister inspected the facilities created in the Mela and interacted with the doctors, para-medics and patients. He expressed satisfaction on the facilities. He asked the people to avail benefits of the event. MLA Ramnagar also spoke on the occasion and   put forth various demands of the area before the Minister concerning the health sector. He requested the Minster for filling up of all vacant posts of doctors, para-medics in the health institution in Ramnagar Constituency, up-gradation of Thial and Khoon Health institutions, upgradation of health infrastructure in the area. Earlier, the Minister also paid obeisance at Shri Jagan Nath ji temple on the occasion of annual Rath Yatra and prayed for peace and prosperity of the state.Director Health Services Jammu Dr. Baljeet Singh Pathiana, Mission Director NHM, Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Chairman, SDDMS, Mr. B.D Sharma,  CMO, Udhampur, Dr. Arun Sharma, besides Sarpanchs, Panches and a large number of people from adjoining localities were present on the occasion.
