Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Friday lamented unambitious youth of the state, saying the average Goan youngster wants a white-collar job and is even willing to become a peon if the job comes with a table and chair."A Goan boy normally needs a white-collar job. If he is given a chair and a table, he is even willing to become a peon," Parsekar said while launching a string of e-services at the State Secretariat. "There are few who will take up the challenge of working in high work-intensive field jobs which pay more," he said. Parsekar also said the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government in Goa has nearly finalised all formalities for starting an electronic city in Tuem village, located in Pernem sub district near the Maharashtra border. The city, he said, would work as a major job creation avenue for the state's young and modestly educated workforce. "We have a lot of youngsters who have passed (Staff Selection Commission) SSC, ITI (Industrial Training Institute) and Standard 12 who can assemble electronic devices," he said."And IT (Information technology) is a non-polluting sector. For a literate state like Goa it suits very well. Therefore, six lakh sq. metres land has been earmarked for Tuem. All procedures are completed," Parsekar added.
