Sh Surjit Kumar Jayani, Health & Family Welfare Minister, Punjab gave away appointment letters to the 72 Block Extension Educators (BEE) appointed in the health & family welfare department on regular basis. Jayani congratulating the newly appointed BBE’s said that they should work honestly and dedicatedly for the welfare of the people. He said that the recruitment of these BEE's has been done in a transparent manner by the special selection committee for recruitments in the health department.He added that the stations were also given to the candidates as per their merit and choice among the available stations. Minister said that the role of BEE's is to educate the community regarding various health issues and prevention and to create awareness on disease prevention among the community. They are also responsible for propagating the schemes and services of the govt among the beneficiaries. These posts were lying vacant for the last many years until year 2011 when the Govt decided to fill these posts along with other vacant posts of Specialists, Doctors, Staff Nurses and Radiographers etc.Prominent present on the occasion included Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu, CPS Health, Ms Vini Mahajan, Principal Secretary Health, Medical Education & Research, Punjab, Sh Hussan Lal, MD, PHSC & NRHM, Punjab, Dr Ashok Nayyar, Director Health Services and Dr Karanjit Singh, Director Family Welfare, Punjab.
