Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee President G A Mir Tuesday claimed that his party has always kept the state and people on top priority of its agenda and did everything to make the people feel safe and progressing.“Congress being an oldest political front of the country has vision for development and dedication to work for strengthening the masses and make them self reliant. India being a largest democracy in the world is famous because of the secular character of the Congress,” he said while addressing a day-long convention of Party workers at Beerwah. The JK PCC Chief while addressing the convention expressed displeasure over the functioning of PDP-BJP government. “People of the State would not have seen such a government in J&K which is cornered with controversies and lack of coordination between coalition partners.”Lashing out at ‘Achey Din’ slogan of Modi-led government at centre, he said, “Modi government at centre has let down the people of Jammu and Kashmir has agonized them further in the name relief, rehabilitation and packages.”

The JKPCC chief said Congress being a constructive opposition wants the government to respond to people issues and come out white paper on rehabilitation of flood affected people, new recruitment policy, regularization of daily rated workers and other problems confronting people. “Coalition government has to answer these questions. Being a constructive opposition in the State Congress won’t remain as a mute spectator to the wrong doings and anti people policies of PDP BJP government.”

Responding to the local demands of people of Beerwah JKPCC Chief urged the government to connect Tosa Maidan with Beerwah through a trafficable road, which is a long pending demand of people of Beerwah. “There is also an urgent need for setting up of Toosa Maidan Development Authority, as that will further boost tourism industry in Kashmir,” he said.

He greeted people of Beerwah and Congress General Secretary Nazir Ahmad Khan, who lost 2014 Assembly Elections by a very narrow margin, for strengthening the Party and expressed confidence that the day is not far when Khan will represent Beerwah Assemby Segment.

Peerzada Mohammad Syed while speaking on the occasion recalled the ‘revolutionary steps’ taken by Congress and UPA at Centre with regard to overall  Development of Jammu and Kashmir State. He reminded the people about UPA Govts packages for power projects and road connectivity . He felt confident that people of Jammu and Kashmir are in knowledge of revolutionary steps taken by UPA under the leadership of Dr. Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi.

While addressing the gathering Former Minister Taj Mohi U Din expressed surprise over 100 days of   PDP-BJP rule in the State. “What they did for flood affected people, unemployed youths and other problems people are facing,” he questioned.

Speaking on the occasion MLC and Vice President Gulam Nabi Monga reminded the people of Beerwah about the 2014 Assembly elections and expressed thanks to them for displaying faith in Congress and its leadership through ballot. He, however, expressed his dismay that Congress candidate Nazir Ahmad Khan lost the elections by a very narrow margin.

Monga termed Khan as a leader of masses in Beerwah Constituency.
