World Blood Donors Day observed in Doda

To mark the World Blood Donors Day an awareness camp was organised at District Hospital Doda to raise awareness about the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank blood donors for their voluntary and life-saving gifts of blood .

Deputy Commissioner Doda, Bhupinder Kumar was the chief guest on the occasion .Speaking on the occasion DC highlighted that this day is celebrated to focus  on thanking blood donors who save lives every day  by donating blood  and appealed more people all over the District to donate blood voluntarily and regularly. The campaign  aims to highlight stories from people whose lives have been saved through blood donation, as a way of motivating regular blood donors to continue giving blood and people in good health who have never given blood to begin doing so, he  further added.

Superintendent District Hospital Doda Mr Yaqoob Mir informed that the theme of this year’s campaign is "Thank you for saving my life” and said that Transfusion of blood and blood products helps save millions of lives every year. It can help patients suffering from life-threatening conditions live longer and with higher quality of life, and supports complex medical and surgical procedures. It also has an essential, life-saving role in maternal and prenatal care. Access to safe and sufficient blood and blood products can help reduce rates of death and disability due to severe bleeding during delivery and after childbirth, he added. He also informed that awareness camps are also organized in other parts of the district to encourage more people to donate blood. Regular Blood donors were also felicitated on the occasion.
