To assess the working and performance of educational institutions, Minister of State for Education, Culture and Information Priya Sethi today paid surprise visit to Government Higher Secondary School, Bazar Qasaban, Gujjar Nagar, here.The Minister interacted with the students and inquired about their requirements and infrastructure.She took a round of the school and inspected the new physics and chemistry laboratories coming up there.The Minister directed the Principal to expedite the works so that necessary infrastructure gets created and is utilized by the students.Priya called upon the teaching fraternity to work with zeal and commitment to provide quality education to students and all out efforts should be made to improve the results of the school. Government schools have best human resource and with right motivation and guidance students can show good results, she added.She said inter-school competitions and debates should be organized and students have to be motivated to participate in such competitions.

“Due attention should also be given to sports and extra-curricular activities so as to ensure over all personality development of students,” she added.The Minister said the government is alive to the problems faced by teachers and a comprehensive policy for addressing the issues is being worked out. A motivated work force is essential for working an organization and the government would ensure that staff issues are resolved and a good working atmosphere would be created, she said. Priya called for establishing counseling center so that students can be advised as per their performance and potentialities, adding that each child is unique and special care needs to be taken to identify the strong points so that the student can be guided for future.

She said teacher has to play the role of mother and each student needs to be handled with proper care and attention so that hidden potentials can be explored.
