The Defence Minister of India (RM) Manohar Parrikar arrived in Seoul today on his first official visit to South Korea. The Minister is accompanied by the Defence Secretary and senior Indian military and civilian officials from the Ministry of Defence and an Indian Defence industry delegation. During this three-day visit to RoK, RM will co-chair the India-RoK Defence Ministerial meeting with his Korean counterpart Gen. Han Min-Koo on 17 April. They will hold extensive discussions on the entire gamut of the bilateral defence relationship and regional and global issues of mutual interest, and will in particular identify ways to upgrade the Defence relationship. RM will also meet the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Choi Yun-hee, Minister Chang Myoung-Jin of the Korean Defence Acquisition Program Administration and National Security Adviser, Kim Kwan-Jin. 

The Minister of State (I/C) for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan pays his maiden field visit in ONGC Assam Asset, Reviews production performance The Minister of State (I/C) for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan visited Assam Asset of ONGC on 15th and 16 April 2015. Pradhan visited the Geleky Drill site EV 2000 5 and took very keen interest on the onshore drilling process. He interacted with all the employees of the drill site to understand the nitty-gritty of the complicated drilling activities of the field as well as the working conditions of the employees. Pradhan was accompanied by the Hon’ble Members of Parliament, Shri Kamakhya Prasad Tasa and Shri RameshwarTeli, Additional secretary, MoPNG Shri A.P. Sawhney and CMD ONGC Shri Dinesh K. Sarraf. 

Pradhan also visited the GelekyGGS-I (Group Gathering Station-I) where oil is collected from all the wells in the surrounding areas. The Geleky GGS-I was constructed in 1968 and currently producing over 1000 tonnesof crude oil per day. The Minister also reviewed the overall performance of the ONGC Assam Asset in the late evening of April 15 to ascertain as to what should be done in order to increase the production of this one of the oldest Assets of ONGC. While appreciating the efforts and enthusiasm of ONGC officers he said, “You need to think differently so that the decline in production is arrested and oil also comes from the new areas. The traditional way of thinking will not help make a turnaround of this Asset.” 

Shri Pradhan said the dream of Hon’ble Prime Minister towards the progress of India’s Northeast can be realized only when we are able to exploit the natural resources in this region particularly oil and gas in a much faster and better way. The Minister has also reviewed the various activities in the field of CSR in Assam and shared his thoughts about how CSR activities can be made more structured and people oriented.Team ONGC assured the Hon’ble Minister that no stone would be left unturned to achieve higher production from this Asset.
