Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh today congratulated the partymen for taking on the goonda-raj let loose by the Akali-BJP alliance in the state during the local bodies’ elections and asked them to be prepared for tomorrow as well, as there was every possibility of the Akalis repeating it during the MC election also.He warned the Akalis and BJP against any misadventure tomorrow and made it clear that the Congressmen will retaliate in equal measure hard and fast. “I have told my party workers not to take anything lying down”, he said, while adding, “hit them back twice if they try to hit you once” Capt Amarinder announced that the PCC will not only take care of the party workers, who have been taking on the goonda-raj and have been slapped with false cases, in every manner, but they will also be duly honoured for their courage and bravery for saving the democracy.Referring to the courage and bravery shown by the party workers against all odds in confronting the goonda-raj of the Akalis, Capt Amarinder said, they deserve kudos and congratulations for coming out to save the democracy against the lawlessness being resorted to by the Akalis. The PCC President said, the behavior of the police and the administration during these elections has been absolutely disappointing and in most of the cases these police and officials have either turned blind eye to the Congress complaints or have sided with the Akalis only. He pointed out as how former Ghanaur MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur was booked under section 307 of the IPC when he tried to resist the highhandedness of the Akalis during the Nagar Panchayat elections on June 7. Similarly he referred to the attack on Raikote MLA GS Boparai, and ex MLAs Jassi Khangura and Milkiat Singh Dakha in Mulanpur Dakha the same day.Warning Akalis against resorting to the bullying and intimidation, Capt Amarinder said, the Congressmen were ready to hit back and hit hard in same measure. He said, the onus and responsibility will be that of the Akalis as they are in power.
