Punjab Education Minister Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema today took landmark decision in a high level meeting held here today. Taking stringent note of the poor performance of the schools in state level primary games, a meeting of the teachers of 245 primary schools has been convened on April 18 and the authorities of such schools having less than 10 students have also been called in the meeting. The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Education Mr. C. Roul, Director General School Education Mr. Pardeep Kumar Aggarwal, DPI Secondary Education Mr. Balbir Singh Dhol and DPI Elementary Mrs. Darshan Kaur. Disclosing this an official spokesperson of the department said that before taking of final call over the closure of schools having less than 10 students, the Minister has desired to take stock of ground reality in the meeting convened on April 18. The concerned school authorities have been directed to furnish the performa indicating the parameters based on education status vis-a-vis population of students between 6-14 years in their respective schools jurisdiction. He said that in this meeting the shabby performance of the schools in state level primary games would also be discussed at length and fresh guidelines for such sports to be held in future would also be finalised. 

He said that the rationalisation policy was discussed in today’s meeting. The Minister has decided that in the next meeting a representative of the concerned teacher associations, unions would also be called for. He said that before finalising the rationalisation policy, the advice and suggestions of the unions would be considered.The Spokesman said that it was also decided in the meeting that the undue delay in filing the charge sheets and enquiries would be done away with proper review and monitoring of the working. He said that computerised applications would be made applicable to expedite such procedures.
