Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said that SAD-BJP combine would register massive victory in the coming local bodies election on the development agenda in the state. He also announced that the construction of 4/6 lane roads connecting all major cities would be initiated from December this. While inaugurating the Kurali-Siswan road constructed at a cost of Rs. 75 crore here today, Mr. Badal said SAD-BJP alliance is not a political alliance but a natural alliance and both parties would fight municipal election together. Replying to a question about the expected date of announcement of municipal elections, he said that Punjab government has suggested the probable dates to state election commission and it is prerogative of election commission to decide and announce the schedule. He stressed that state machinery has been fully geared up for free and fair elections in the state.

Drubbing the congress party he said that state congress is no more a challenge to the SAD-BJP combine as people of Punjab have rejected this party in all previous electoral battles due to their directionless and anti-Punjab stance. He said that congress leaders have nothing to offer to the people of State and have no agenda on development and other issues as they were fighting with each other for PPCC "captaincy".Deputy Chief Minister stressed that necessary infrastructure was the only alternative to attract the investors in Punjab to accelerate the development in a land locked state. He said that it was for first time in the history of Punjab that such a large amount to be spent to strengthen road network as after formation of NDA government, things have been changed rapidly in favour of Punjab which was deprived from its rights by the UPA government due to its anti-Punjab stance.

He said that after achieving the status of first power surplus state of the country SAD-BJP government has set the target to connect all major cities with 4-6 lanes in next 2 years. Adding further he said that recently Union Minister for Roads and Highway Mr. Nitin Gadkari has announced road projects worth Rs. 18000 crore.Listing the approved roads he said 4 laning of Amritsar-Bathinda highway costing Rs. 3800 crore, Jalandhar to Moga at a cost of Rs. 1500 crore, Moga-Barnala with Rs. 500 crore, Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur upto Himachal Pradesh Border with Rs. 1000 crore, Chandigarh-Ludhiana with Rs. 2000 crore, Kurali-Kharar with Rs. 300 crore, Rupnagar-Phawara with Rs. 1000 crore, Ladowal bypass with Rs. 315 crore, Amritsar-Attari with Rs. 250 crore and Samrala–Ludhiana with Rs. 1000 crore have been approved and construction on all these projects would be initiated by December this.

It may be mentioned here that this newly constructed road would facilitate the people traveling from Doaba and Majha region to capital AND Himachal Pradesh besides accelerating the growth of New Chandigarh.Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Mr Ujagar Singh Badali district President Sharomani Akali Dal, DIG Roopnagar range R.K. Jaiswal, SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and ADC general Punamdeep Kaur.
