Assailing the Congress leadership for thrusting another by-election in the state, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said that the former Congress MLA from Dhuri has disserted the electorate by shirking away from the responsibility of serving them.

Addressing the public gathering during the Sangat Darshan program of Dhuri assembly segment here today, the Chief Minister said that the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has a glorious history of serving the people with full zeal and commitment whereas the Congress leaders ‘flee away’ after enjoying the fruits of power. He said that the SAD leadership has been dedicatedly serving the state whereas the Congress leaders were opportunists who just contest the elections for enjoying fruits of power and forget the people once they come to power. Cautioning the people not to get swayed away by the malicious propaganda unleashed by the Congress party, Mr. Badal said that Congress has always adopted an anti-Punjab stance.

Training his guns against the Congress leadership for opposing his Sangat Darshan, the Chief Minister dared the Congress leader to stop him from pursuing this pro-people move for the well being of the masses. Mr. Badal said that he had planned the Sangat Darshan of Dhuri assembly segment much before the former Congress MLA from Dhuri shirked away from fulfilling his responsibility towards the people by submitting his resignation. He said that the Congress leaders were free to complaint about Sangat Darshan to anybody but it would not deter him to carry forward this result oriented scheme.

The Chief Minister further said that the Congress has always adopted an anti-Punjab stance against the state due to which the development of the state has suffered a lot. He said that Punjab’s economy has been adversely affected due to the partition of the country and prolonged militancy but it got the fatal blow when the Congress granted incentives to the neighboring states, which led to the mass exodus of the industry of the state to these hilly states. Terming the formation of Modi government at the centre as a ‘silver lining’ for the state, Mr. Badal said that it would give further impetus to the overall development of the state and prosperity of its people. Later on interacting with the media persons at village Sherpur Sodhian, the Chief Minister said that the SAD-BJP alliance would get absolute majority in the ensuing polls for the Delhi assembly. He said that the wise voters of Delhi would elect the SAD-BJP alliance to power for better coordination between the Union and Delhi government. Mr. Badal said that it was the need of hour for ushering in an era of all-round development of Delhi.

Taking a jibe on the proposed Lalkaar Rally of former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh in Amritsar tomorrow, the Chief Minister said that the motive of rally organized by the Lok Sabha MP was to belittle his party colleagues. He said that before resorting to such political tantrums aimed at defaming Punjabis as drug addicts both Captain and State Congress Chief Mr. Partap Singh Bajwa should set their house in order. “Wise people of Punjab are well aware of dubious moves of Congress leaders aimed at tarnishing the image of Punjabis as drug addicts” added Mr. Badal.

Reiterating that the SAD-BJP alliance was everlasting and firm, the Chief Minister said that the alliance has always stood the test of time and both the parties should not be seen as different from each other. Mr. Badal said that relationship between both the alliance partners was very strong, impeccable and cordial because it has been time and again cemented with mutual affection and understanding. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister held Sangat Darshan in Samundgarh, Kandhargarh, Cheema, Burj Gohara, Burj Soda, Mimsa, Maan, Sherpur Sodhian, Jakhal and other villages to give a fillip to the development of these villages. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Cabinet Minister Mr. Parminder Singh Dhindsa, MLA Mr. Iqbal Singh Jhunda, former Ministers Mr. Gobind Singh Longowal and Mr. Rajinder Singh Kanjla, his Special Principal Secretary Mr. KJS Cheema and Deputy Commissioner Mr. Arshdeep Singh Thind.
