2 militants Killed in Sopore encounter

Two militants were killed during a fierce gun battle at Sopore area in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district today morning.Official sources told GNS that acting on a specific information about the presence of some militants at Saidpora village in Sopore, army’s 22 RR and SOG cordoned off the whole area late last night.“As such the joint team of forces today morning intensified the searches and fired few warning shots near the suspected spot, the militants hiding inside the residential house tried to break the cordoned. "However, they were enganged in a gunfight".

They said that during the 3-hour long gunfight the two holed up militants have been killed.Sources told GNS that one among the killed is believed to be Abu Said of Pakistan.When contacted a senior defence official, Brijesh Panday told GNS that the gunfight has concluded and so far one body has been recovered from the spot.The searches at the encounter site are going on, he said.
