The Punjab government today ordered the promotion of 2928 teachers as lecturers with immediate effect. Disclosing this here today Sikander Singh Maluka, Education Minister said that 178 biology teachers, 186 chemistry teachers, 345 commerce teachers, 140 economics teachers, 203 english teachers, 5 fine arts teachers, 41 geography teachers, 32 hindi teachers, 463 history teachers, 215 mathematics  teachers, 15 music teachers, 118 physics teachers, 102 physical education teachers, 499 political science teachers, 381 punjabi teachers, 3 sanskrit teachers and 2 sociology teachers have been promoted as lecturers with immediate effect. He said that he has personally taken up this exercise of promoting eligible employees timely to check the stagnation besides to boost the morale of employeeHe said that postings of all these newly promoted lecturers would be made in a transparent manner.
