The CBI Tuesday arrested seven people from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh on charges of impersonating candidates in an online nationalised bank clerical examination, officials said.Three impersonators -- two students of IIT Delhi and a system engineer of a Hyderabad-based private company -- were arrested along with four other people from an institute in Ghaziabad. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) charged them under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, Prevention of Corruption Act and Information Technology Act over allegations that they were impersonating other people in a nationalised bank clerical examination conducted online by a Mumbai-based institute.

Cash amounting to Rs.6.5 lakh was recovered from the possession of one of the accused. The money was allegedly meant to be paid to one impersonator. Some incriminating documents were also seized from their possession, a CBI official said. All the seven were produced before a Ghaziabad court. While two were sent to four days' police custody, the other five were sent to judicial custody.
