Attack Omar Abdullah for accusing Congress party of "opportunism and falsehood", senior Congress leader and sitting MLA from Inderwal, Ghulam Muhammad Saroori Monday termed him "weak and unfit" Chief Minister.Omar Abdullah can no more befool people with his politics of hatred and pision as he stands exposed before the general masses”, Saroori said, while addressing a deputation of party workers of far off areas of district Kishtwar, here today.Saroori said, "Omar Abdullah’s National Conference is a sinking ship. He cannot deliver and general masses know how he has made a mess of Jammu and Kashmir. NC leaders, workers and supporters are seeking greener pastures elsewhere."

He said that no inquiry was ordered by Omar Abdullah against his own ministers and accusation of him being involved in taking sizeable kickbacks of Rs 500 Cr from a private company on account of allotment of Rattle power project.Saroori asked, “Why Omar only ordered inquiries against Congress Minister? Why no inquiries were ordered against allotment of 2000 works allotted without tenders when Omar was holding the charge of Public Works Department (PWD), also in Haji Yusuf murdered case and his associates.”

Saroori said, “One Mushtaq Ahmed, a paid agent of NC and resident of Srinagar filed a false complaint against former minister of sanctioning two thousand works in PWD R&B department without formal tendering. But when SAC conducted the detailed enquiry and came to the conclusion that allegations were false and dismissed the case.”“Mushtaq Ahmed only complained against Congress leaders and never appeared in court with any concrete proof.”“Despite Omar’s wrong intentions, both SAC and CBI gave us clean chit,” Saroori added. The Congress leader said that there is utter neglect and deprivation that remote and backward areas like erstwhile Doda district suffered till 2006. “A concerted effort to develop these areas during Ghulam Nabi Azad’s tenure as CM was made. However the same script of neglect is being repeated since 2008," he said.

Saroori said that Chenab Valley was developed during Azad’s tenure as chief minister as roads, colleges, hospitals, and schools were constructed during the Congress-led regime, and since then no visible improvement is noticed on the ground.

He said that Omar Abdullah has filled his own ‘chest’ when he didn’t have a single penny to quake hit erstwhile district Doda from Rs. 334crore  released by the union government under disaster management quota.  “I think Omar Abdullah don’t know the meaning of “Disaster”, Saroori added. He accused that Omar has failed to provide relief to the earthquake victims in comparison to "massive reconstruction" work started in 2005 by Azad government after the earthquake in October 2005. "Tested, credible, and capable regime of Congress-led government alone can bring out the flood-ravaged state out of morass,” Saroori said.

"The massive challenge of reconstruction and rehabilitation cannot be carried out by mere sloganeering or making hollow promises, rather a concrete and coordinated effort is required to rebuild the lives of the people," he said.Saroori said that it was Congress party’s biggest mistake by giving an immature person the post of Chief Minister. “Congress thought Omar Abdullah was young and energetic and that he can deliver well. However, we were wrong. He was unfit for such a prestigious position,” Saroori said and asked what Omar Abdullah achieved in these six years?

He said that to hide the failure of his government on every front, Omar was making false accusations against the Congress."Omar did no good to the constituencies we (Congress) represent. Our constituencies were discriminated," he said. Congress is the only party which is committed to equitable development of all the regions of the state and people have to make a right choice in these elections.Saroori blamed Omar Abdullah for not regularizing daily wagers in the state "It was intentional dilly-dallying tactics by Omar. Justice is being denied to such a large number of casual workers since 2009 when Cabinet Sub-Committee was constituted to look into the grievances of all sections of employees and workers," he said and put the onus on Omar Abdullah for blocking the move because there were more daily wagers from Jammu region.

He also accused Chief Minister of deliberately not implementing Food Security Act in Jammu and Kashmir even as the same was implemented in the rest of India during UPA regime. “He knew that with the implementation of Food Security Act in the state, its benefit would go to Congress party following which he delayed and did not implement the same,” Saroori added.
