Reacting to remarks of chief minister Omar Abdullah that Congress created difficulties for him due to which he couldn’t achieve what he wanted to, Leader of Opposition in Rajjya Sabha and senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad Wednesday said why didn’t he (Omar) resign then.Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Azad, also a former chief minister of J&K said, “The moment Omar felt that Congress was not supporting him, he should have resigned from the post of the chief minister. It is questionable why Omar didn’t resign if he was feeling that Congress was creating hurdles in his functioning.”

Azad also remarked that when PDP didn’t support his government in 2008, he resigned sans any delay on the floor of the house.Omar had in an interview to a New Delhi based news channel said that Congress created difficulties for him as a result of which he couldn’t achieve what he wanted to. He accused Congress that it didn’t allow the coalition to settle fully and he faced many difficulties because of the non-cooperation of Congress.“It is bizarre that why he (Omar) completed his full term in office and is now blaming the party (Congress),” Azad said.

Azad took a dig at BJP, saying that its claim of ‘44 plus’ in Jammu and Kashmir is hollow and a hoax and that it actually is four and not 44. “Instead of 44 plus, BJP should strive for four seats during assembly elections in JK. The party cannot even win four seats from the state.”“BJP’s internal feud in Jammu will benefit Congress,” he asserted.Over party’s chief ministerial candidate, Azad remarked that the party in a unanimous decision has decided to announce the CM candidate after the coming assembly elections and not ahead of that. “We are certain that the Congress will form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir and its ground is getting strengthened every day after at present.” (KNS)
