With a view to provide relief to the unauthorized plot holders and illegal colonies, Punjab Government will issue a fresh amended notification on October 27 in this regard for regularization of plots and colonies in the next three months.  On the plea submitted by colonizers, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today asked the Housing and Urban Development Department to issue a fresh notification under Punjab apartment and properties regularization act, 1995 (PAPRA) for plot holders and colonizers who could not get opportunity to get their plots and colonies regularized in given time-frame already elapsed. He also directed all deputy commissioners and development authorities to launch a sustained campaign to get all illegal colonies and plots regularized and complete this job as a ‘mission’.

Deputy CM said that state Government has come out with a most public friendly policy that allows colonizers having unathorized colonies to get their offences compounded and plot owners to get their tenements regularized with a nominal fee.Stating that it would be a golden chance for regularization of properties, Mr Badal has directed the housing development and all development authorities to initiate the process of accepting applications from the next week and decide the same within one month after their submission to issue NOCs to the owners.

Deputy Chief Minister asked the Secretary Housing to draft an ordinance to amend the PAPR act to give relief to unauthorised plot holders and colonies in the state.Stressing the need for hassle free process and pro-active public friendly approach, Sukhbir Badal said that it was the duty of deputy commissioners to ensure that general public was not harassed and given total cooperation in this task. He asked chief administrators of all development authorities to monitor the regularization process and submit weekly reports to the government.
