Aam Aadmi Party's State Chief Spokesperson, MLA and former Cabinet Minister S. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal today inspected various petrol pumps in the Ajnala area along with a team of officials, including District Food and Civil Supplies Controller Sukhjinder Singh, Weights and Measures Inspector Gagandeep Singh, and other departmental officers. During the inspection, petrol samples were collected on the spot for testing the ethanol content.

Speaking to the media, S. Dhaliwal said that the inspection was conducted in response to complaints received from vehicle owners regarding the ethanol content in petrol. According to the complaints, the use of ethanol-blended petrol has allegedly been causing damage to the engines and other components of two-wheelers and four-wheelers, resulting in financial losses to vehicle owners.

In view of these concerns, petrol samples were collected in the presence of departmental officials and have been sent for examination.S. Dhaliwal alleged that the Centre's policies have placed an additional financial burden on vehicle owners.

He said that comparisons with countries where higher ethanol blending is widely used are not appropriate, as the technical specifications of vehicles and road conditions in India differ significantly from those in many developed nations. He further alleged that the Central Government is giving priority to the interests of petroleum companies instead of providing relief to people already burdened by rising prices.

Demanding immediate relief for consumers, S. Dhaliwal urged the Central Government to reduce the prices of petrol, diesel, domestic LPG and commercial LPG in view of the decline in international crude oil prices. He said such a step would provide much-needed relief to people affected by inflation.
