Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab, during his visit to Sangrur today, reaffirmed his commitment to the preservation and development of the district’s historical and cultural heritage. He said that special efforts would be made to further develop the District Museum Sangrur. 

He added that the museum serves as an important center for preserving the rich history, traditions, and heritage of Sangrur and Punjab, and that necessary steps would be taken to make it more modern, better equipped, and more attractive to visitors.

During his visit to the District Museum, the Governor carefully examined the antique artifacts, rare documents, historical photographs, and cultural exhibits displayed there. He said that such museums not only preserve the memories of the past but also play a vital role in connecting the younger generation with their heritage and history.

He directed officials to make the museum more engaging and impactful by introducing digital exhibitions, audio-visual facilities, and other improvements.On the occasion, the Governor also sought detailed information regarding the preservation of the historic Baradari situated at Banasar Bagh. 

He stated that the Baradari is an important part of Sangrur’s historical identity and that planned efforts would be undertaken for its special conservation and maintenance. He emphasized that preserving such heritage structures is a collective responsibility.

The Governor further said that Punjab is blessed with rich historical and religious heritage, and it is the duty of the government to preserve these treasures and safeguard them for future generations. He instructed the district administration to identify other heritage sites in Sangrur and prepare plans for their preservation as well.

Earlier, the Governor paid obeisance at Shri Kali Mata Mandir and prayed for the prosperity, progress, and peace of Punjab. On this occasion, the temple management committee also honored him.Senior district administration officials, local public representatives, members of the temple management committee, dignitaries, and a large number of city residents were present on the occasion.
