Director, Skill Development Department, Dr. Owais Ahmad, today visited Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Bandipora and Government Polytechnic College (GPC) Bandipora to review their functioning and assess the quality of skill development and technical education being imparted to students.

During the visit, Dr. Owais inspected the available infrastructure, training facilities, machinery and equipment in both institutions. He also interacted with faculty members and students to gain firsthand feedback regarding the academic and training environment.

The Director reviewed the employability prospects of students passing out from these institutions and discussed measures to enhance their employment opportunities. He stressed the importance of industry-oriented training programmes and underscored the need to align skill development initiatives with emerging market demands.

Highlighting the rapid technological changes taking place globally, Dr. Owais emphasized the inclusion of new-age courses such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Electric Vehicle (EV) technologies in the curriculum. He said efforts are underway to revamp and modernize skill development institutions under the upcoming Mission Skill initiative to ensure that students are equipped with contemporary skills and industry-relevant knowledge.

Dr Owais Ahmad also reviewed the availability of infrastructure and equipment required for effective practical training and directed the concerned authorities to identify gaps and work towards strengthening institutional capacities.Dr. Owais stated that the department is committed to upgrading skill development institutions across the region to make them more responsive to the needs of industry and youth aspirations.
