Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini on Friday directed officers to accord top priority to public grievances and ensure their timely resolution while chairing a meeting of the District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee in Sirsa. Notably, the Chief Minister's proactive approach during the meeting drew attention as he personally telephoned complainants to obtain first-hand information on their grievances and review the action taken by the administration.
Chairing the meeting at the Panchayat Bhawan in Sirsa, Saini reviewed 15 complaints placed before the committee. Twelve complaints were disposed of, while three were kept pending for further examination.
The Chief Minister directed the officers concerned to give priority to the repair of sewerage infrastructure and roads, saying citizens should not be made to suffer due to delays in restoration works. He also directed that road construction and repair work be initiated at the earliest in urban areas where sewerage lines have already been laid.
During the hearing, two cases came up in which the complainants were not present. The Chief Minister immediately contacted them over the phone to understand the issues directly and review the status of action taken.
One such case pertained to Sanjay Kumar, a resident of Fatehpur Jottanwali village, who had complained that a siphon on a watercourse had not been constructed properly. After speaking with the complainant, the Chief Minister directed the constitution of a three-member committee under the chairmanship of the concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM).
The committee has been asked to visit the site, interact with farmers, examine all aspects of the matter and submit its report at the next meeting. The second case related to Nirmal Kaur, whose father attended the meeting on her behalf.
The complaint shared that following the death of her husband, Virender Pal, a pharmacist in the AYUSH Department, in February 2026, she had not received the benefits and assistance due to her. During the proceedings, her father expressed satisfaction with the action taken by the department.
However, the Chief Minister also spoke directly with Nirmal Kaur over the phone. She too conveyed satisfaction with the action taken and thanked the Chief Minister personally.
The interaction underscored the Chief Minister's emphasis on direct public engagement and accountability in grievance redressal. During the meeting, the Chief Minister also heard a complaint filed by Parmjeet Singh, resident of Ganga village regarding an alleged forged will.
Officers informed the committee that thumb impressions had been examined at two different places, but the reports could not be matched because the impressions were unclear. After hearing both parties, the Chief Minister directed that the matter be kept pending until the next meeting.
In the complaint filed by Sanjay Kumar, resident of Fatehpur Jottanwali village regarding the faulty construction of a siphon, the Chief Minister reiterated that the SDM-led three-member committee would conduct an on-site inspection, interact with affected farmers and submit a detailed report in the next meeting.
Hearing a complaint filed by Balveer Ram, a resident of Ward No. 1, Rania, concerning the death of his brother Jagseer Singh, the Chief Minister said that if the complainant produces any additional facts or evidence, the same would be incorporated into the investigation. In another matter, Hardik Goyal, resident of Additional Mandi, Sirsa, complained about alleged discrepancies in measurements relating to pavement and parking provisions in the layout plan of service industry shops in Industrial Area-I.
The Chief Minister sought explanations from officers of the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) and the Municipal Council. Expressing dissatisfaction with the replies furnished by the two departments, he ordered an inquiry into the matter and directed that action be taken against those found responsible. He also directed that work relating to the project for which the tender had already been awarded should commence at the earliest.
The Chief Minister disposed of complaints filed by Mahender Singh, a resident of Bhadra, Ram Singh, a resident of Taruana village, Om Vishnu, a resident of Jandwala Bishroiyan, Jarnail Singh, a resident of Khuiyan Malkana, Mahesh Kumar, a resident of Kussar, Dev Dutt, a resident of Mehnakhera, Shakuntala, a resident of Ram Colony on Barnala Road and Ruldu Ram of Rori after hearing the complainants. In another complaint, the Chief Minister directed that the street be constructed and also ordered an inquiry against a Junior Engineer over allegations of demanding money.
Former Governor, Prof. Ganeshi Lal, Ellenabad MLA, Sh. Bharat Singh Beniwal, Sirsa MLA, Sh. Gokul Setia, Kalanwali MLA, Sh. Shishpal Keharwala, Zila Parishad Chairman Karan Chautala, Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Shantanu Sharma, Superintendent of Police, Sh. Deepak Saharan and others also remained present on this occasion.
