Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Shahzad Alam, today flagged off a group of around 107 farmers from the district for an exposure-cum-capacity building visit to Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K), Shalimar.

The programme is aimed at enhancing farmers' knowledge and facilitating the dissemination of modern horticultural and agricultural technologies, innovative farming practices, and scientific approaches among the farming community of the district.

The flag-off ceremony was attended by Chief Horticulture Officer, M. Ramzan War; Horticulture Development Officer (HDO) Kulgam, Dr. Mohsin Ahmad Hajam; HDO Devsar; HDO Qaimoh; and other officials of the Horticulture Department.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of exposure visits and capacity-building programmes in equipping farmers with the latest technological advancements and best management practices. He encouraged the participating farmers to make the most of the opportunity and adopt innovative techniques to enhance productivity and improve their livelihoods.

The visit to SKUAST-K, Shalimar, is expected to provide the farmers with firsthand exposure to modern technologies, research findings, and successful models in horticulture and allied sectors, thereby contributing to the overall development of the farming sector in the district.

The participating farmers expressed their gratitude to the District Administration and the Horticulture Department for facilitating the exposure visit and providing them with an opportunity to learn from experts and researchers in the field.
